Chin Surgery

It is a surgical procedure which modifies the form and size of the chin to achieve a more harmonious face through a balance between the chin, jaw, cheek and forehead. To achieve this balance it can be used a chin implant or a surgical modification of the bone.

Ideal candidates for the surgery

  • Good health
  • Realistic expectations
  • To undergo chin reduction surgery, the patient must be at least 20 years old.
  • Dissatisfaction with the chin size and face appearance.

Surgical Procedure:

Chin Augmentation: in order to augment the size a silicone implant is used. A small incision under the chin is made, this is where the implant is positioned, just over the chin bone. After the placement a suture closes the incision.

Reduction: An incision under the chin of in the mouth is made, this is how the access to the bone is made to reduce and give a more pleasant and harmonic form to the face.

During the first days there will be some discomfort and swelling, it will last around one week. A compressive garment will be needed.
