Eyelid Surgery

Due to age or genetic factors, occasionally the skin looses its elasticity becoming flaccid, this may happen to the eyelids, where the skin accumulates on the upper and lower eyelids, giving the appearance of tiredness, sadness or appear older.

This is where blepharoplasty or eyelid surgery, which is a surgical procedure to improve the aesthetic appearance of the eyes removing the excess of skin and removal of fat pads surrounding the eyes.

Eyelid Surgery assists you in:

  • Improve the bulging in upper eyelids
  • Restore vision diminished by the excess of skin and eyelids fat

  • 30 years and older (may be exceptions)

  • Improve visual field due to excess skin in upper eyelid

Surgical Procedure:

Usually local anesthetics are utilized, but there are options for each individual patient.

Eyelid surgery can be done in the uppers and/or lowers. Eyelid surgery can be done in the uppers and/or lowers. In both, redundant skin and fat around the eyes is removed. The incision is located in the fold formed when we open our eyelids (upper) and just below the eyelashes (lower eyelids).

Skin glue or sutures are used to close the incisions, normally are removed between the 5th and 7th day after the procedure.

Regularly some bruising is present, edema (swelling). Some itchiness and discomfort may be felt on the first 3 days.
